NEW PREMISES HELPING POSTAL GROUP TO GROW

28 February 2013

The Postal Group has re-located from its former premises on the Newtownards Road, Belfast to a new warehousing and office complex on the Sydenham Road as the result of a letting negotiated by Osborne King. The new premises, which comprise 24,000 sq ft of warehouse space and additional office space, have been fully refurbished to accommodate the Group’s three separate companies, Mail Matters, Postal Sort and Regional Mail Services.

The longest established of the group, Mail Matters, is one of Northern Ireland’s leading direct mailing organisations with over twenty years’ experience within the business. In recent years, the company has expanded its operations significantly to include mail collections and deliveries servicing over 700 business customers across the province through its Postal Sort and Regional Mail Services divisions. The company has a workforce of 52 employees currently, and its long-term expansion plans include increasing its customer base substantially within Northern Ireland through providing e-commerce solutions.

Commenting on the company’s recent move, John Hughes, CEO of the Postal Group said: “This move has been 23 years in the making, but what a difference it has already made to the efficiency of our staff. We now actively encourage our customers to visit. We always knew that what we did was world class ... now we look it. The extra space has already spawned a new parcels and packets logistic operation and there’s plenty more innovation in the pipeline. The new working environment has energised us all to a new level.”

Chris Sweeney who negotiated the letting on behalf of Osborne King added: “Sydenham Road is a significant commercial and industrial location within the Belfast Harbour Estate. It’s an ideal location in terms of proximity to the city centre and to Northern Ireland’s main arterial road network via the nearby M3 junction. Companies such as the Postal Group rely on quick and easy access to major transport links, which combined with the space and vastly-improved facilities afforded by these new premises, offers significant benefits operationally and in terms of supporting future business growth.”

The Postal Group acquired the building on a long-term lease and has invested a considerable amount of money in refurbishing and updating the building to include a new eco-friendly heating system that will save up to 150 tons of carbon each year.
