OSBORNE KING & CAHOOTS NI SCOOP THE CULTURAL BRANDING AWARD AT THE ALLIANZ ARTS & BUSINESS NI AWARDS 2013

23 January 2013

Osborne King in partnership with Cahoots NI picked up the Cultural Branding Award at the recent Allianz Arts & Business NI’s awards ceremony in Londonderry. This award recognises partnership that reinforces the branding and marketing activity of a business through the use of culture.

L -R: Paul McCann, Allianz; Sean O’Neill, Osborne King; Joanne Stuart, Chair, Arts & Business NI; Paul McEneaney, Cahoots NI; Mary Trainor-Nagele, Chief Executive, Arts & Business Northern Ireland and Bob Collins, Chairman of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Osborne King identified a unique opportunity to make use of the vacant former Danske Bank premises on Donegall Square, Belfast and arranged for Cahoots NI to take up residency in the building while the group rehearsed for its new children’s theatre production and tour. The partnership developed further when Cahoots NI devised a programme of theatrical installations, Window Stopping, aimed at engaging shoppers and visitors to Belfast city centre passing by the ground-floor façade of the building.

Osborne King's David McClure who was instrumental in developing and supporting the successful partnership with Cahoots NI remarked: "From Osborne King's perspective a key goal was to continue to present imaginative and alternative property solutions to our clients. Business innovation is essential to survival in this the toughest economic climate in living memory, so the idea of using otherwise dormant space to benefit both the arts and business communities provided an obvious opportunity. Northern Ireland has the unenviable reputation of having the highest retail vacancy rate in the United Kingdom with in excess of 20% of our shops now lying empty. This chronic oversupply will never again be satisfied purely by retail demand and thus future recovery in this sector will require much greater imagination and a generally more thoughtful approach. By their very nature, the arts exude positive energy and creativity, key elements which are essential in order to stimulate future economic growth".

Osborne King is continuing its partnership with Cahoots NI and has arranged for the group to take up temporary residence within a vacant unit in Castlecourt Shopping Centre in order to prepare for the company’s next production.
