HOLYWOOD EXCHANGE WELCOMES COSTA AND SUBWAY!
30 January 2014

Costa Coffee and Subway, have opened for business at Holywood Exchange in East Belfast and are enjoying brisk trading figures according to letting agents, Osborne King. The companies are the first to occupy a brand-new restaurant block at Holywood Exchange with Costa Coffee taking a unit extending to 1,800 sq ft and Subway taking 1,200 sq ft of space.
Decathlon, Next Home, Bhs Home and Harvey Norman currently trade within the retail warehouse terrace while the last remaining unit comprising 20,000 sq ft is now under offer to a proposed occupier. Ikea, Sainsbury’s and B&Q occupy adjoining sites.
Colin Mathewson from Osborne King remarked: “We are delighted that the restaurant block at Holywood Exchange has attracted two of the strongest brands within the restaurant sector. Costa and Subway are excellent additions to the current retail offer at Holywood Exchange and will act as a further incentive for people to visit the scheme. Moreover, the units will provide neighbouring businesses and offices within the Harbour Estate with much-needed catering facilities.”
Commenting on his decision to locate his restaurant in Holywood Exchange, Subway franchisee, Stephen Coulter said:”I had looked at various sites across Northern Ireland before settling on Holywood Exchange, and since we opened for business in mid-December, business has been fabulous. Not only does Holywood Exchange have several big brand retailers which attract customers from far and wide, but there are approximately 17,000 employees within the Harbour Estate itself, which was also a key factor in our decision to open a restaurant within the complex. Subway is one of the best-known quick-service restaurants globally and our new-look Metro design restaurant has a greater emphasis on comfort and style offering customers free wi-fi and car parking facilities in addition to great, value-for money meal deals and freshly baked cookies.”
Dervla Arthurs, Marketing Manager for Costa Ireland added; “We are very happy with our new Costa Coffee store at Holywood Exchange. It’s a great location joining several other leading retailers whilst also being close to Belfast City Airport and a large employee base at the Harbour Estate. The retail park has easy access from the A2 and a large, free surface car park making it an ideal meeting place for shoppers and business people alike.”
Two units adjacent to Costa and Subway remain available within the restaurant block and these will now be targeted at complementary restaurant occupiers and convenience retailers.”
Holywood Exchange is owned by Friends Life Company Ltd, which is part of AXA Real Estate.
