Global logistics operator, DHL, is expanding its Northern Ireland headquarters off Westbank Road in Belfast by absorbing a 26,000 sq ft site bordering its existing premises.  The company required additional warehousing and distribution space but were reluctant to move beyond their immediate vicinity, therefore, the opportunity to lease the site vacated by a neighbouring tenant on a long-term basis has enabled it to virtually double the size of its premises without having to re-locate its entire operation elsewhere within the city.

Chris Sweeney from Osborne King who negotiated the letting stated, “By suggesting the removal of a boundary fence separating DHL’s original premises and the adjacent site, we were able to devise a neat solution to a problem regarding space which has enabled them to  expand and avoid the inconvenience of moving. On the back of this, we have let additional space in the region of 12,000 sq ft to other local tenants.”

Commenting on the growing demand for warehousing and distribution space, Mr Sweeney added, “We are very encouraged by the quick uptake in relation to this site, which translates into 38,000 sq ft of new uptake within a 12-week period.  It clearly shows strong demand for quality warehouse space within the dock area.”
